Step Inside Our New LACI Office

Where Innovation, Collaboration, and Climate Action Meet.
In early August, BranchPattern officially opened the doors to our Los Angeles office—right in the heart of the city’s cleantech epicenter.
Our new home at the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) on the La Kretz Innovation Campus (LKIC) marks a significant milestone in our firm’s evolution, strengthening our deep roots in California and reinforcing our commitment to driving environmental progress, equity, and innovation in the built environment.
With more than 20 years of experience on nearly 100 projects across California—and the recent addition of California-based Jennifer Berthelot-Jelovic (JBJ) and A SustainAble Production (ASAP)—this move is a natural evolution, not a new beginning. It deepens our long-standing presence in the state, expands our ability to serve clients locally, and connects us to a vibrant hub for clean energy and climate innovation activity.
From the moment you step onto the LEED Platinum and WELL Gold certified campus, you can feel the energy: ideas sparking, partnerships forming, solutions taking shape. This move is about more than location—it’s about access. Access to emerging technologies. Access to collaborations that will define the next decade of building performance. Access to the policy and market conversations driving California’s—and the nation’s—climate action goals.
About LACI
The Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) is a nonprofit organization working at the intersection of innovation, equity, and sustainability. Headquartered at the award-winning La Kretz Innovation Campus in downtown Los Angeles’ Arts District, LACI serves as a launchpad for cleantech startups and a catalyst for regional decarbonization.
The 60,000-square-foot facility offers office, coworking, and event spaces, plus state-of-the-art prototyping labs, an Advanced Prototyping Center, microgrid systems, and manufacturing infrastructure—all designed to accelerate the development and commercialization of clean technologies. The campus also houses the headquarters of the U.S. Green Building Council California, an organization we proudly sponsor.
Aligning with BranchPattern’s people-centered focus, LKIC is WELL Gold certified—the first public building in Los Angeles to achieve this distinction. The certification was led by JBJ prior to joining BranchPattern as Client Development Director. The campus is also LEED Platinum certified, with consulting led by Buro Happold.
Through startup incubation, public-private partnerships, workforce development, and pilot deployment programs, LACI drives real-world solutions in clean energy, zero-emissions transportation, the circular economy, and sustainable cities. Since its founding in 2011, LACI has supported more than 375 startup companies, helping them raise over $700 million, create more than 2,500 jobs, and generate $323 million in revenue, while advancing an inclusive green economy through workforce training, underrepresented founder support, and clean policy advocacy.
Why LACI? And Why It Matters for BranchPattern
Locating our Los Angeles office at LACI is more than a smart real estate decision—it’s an intentional, mission-aligned move that puts us at the center of sustainability conversations, connects us with others committed to meaningful change, and reflects our purpose-driven commitment to Improving Life through Better Built Environments®.
Being at LACI means:
- Proximity to Innovation: Direct access to emerging technologies, prototypes, and cleantech breakthroughs that inform our MEP engineering, building performance, carbon accounting, commissioning, acoustics, and sustainability consulting—and the strategies we deliver for clients.
- Stronger Local Impact: A physical presence in downtown LA allows us to better serve California clients in real time, deepen relationships, and expand our reach in one of the most sustainability-forward markets in the U.S.
- Living Our Values: Operating from a LEED Platinum and WELL Gold certified campus reflects the same performance standards we help clients achieve—offering an inspiring, real-world example of high-performance, human-centered, environmentally responsible design.
